Person Struck, Killed By Lirr Train In New Hyde Park

There were lengthy morning delays on the Long Island Rail Road after a person was struck and killed by a train.

The incident happened shortly before 9:30 a.m. Monday, July 3 in New Hyde Park.

Neither the gender nor identity of the person killed has been released.

"Customers can expect cancelations and delays of 30-45 minutes of mainline trains due to a person on the tracks being struck by a train near New Hyde Park," the LIRR said in a statement shortly after the incident.
